April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Fort Benning’s Family Advocacy Program has programs to help victims and to help you recognize the signs of abuse. During the month of April, look for these activities across post. For information on any of these activities, call 706-545-3202.
April 3, we will host Pinwheel Parades at child development centers. Blue pinwheels are the national symbol for child abuse awareness. Check with your child’s CDC for information about parades.
April 3-14, military ID card holders can register at Family Advocacy, Building 36 on Richardson Circle, or the New Parent Support Program, Building 2652 on Dixie Road, for the chance to win a giant Easter Bunny.
April 3-25, stop by FAP headquarters to pick up a blue ribbon pin, which symbolizes child abuse prevention efforts nationwide.
April 7, we will read “Hands are Not For Hitting” at the CDCs, and each toddler will receive a free book.
April 7, Fort Benning will host the fourth annual Fort Benning Field Day for Tri-Community Exceptional children from 9:15am-1pm on York Field, Stewart-Watson Field and at Smith Fitness Center. Participants include students from Fort Benning, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County, Muscogee County and Harris County. Spectators are invited to this free event.
April 11, visit the Child Abuse Prevention Month display at Martin Army Hospital Atrium 11am-1pm. We’re handing out freebies!
April 12, we will distribute free child fingerprinting kits at Martin Army Pediatric Clinic 10:30am -1:30pm.
April 13, join us for the New Parent Support Class from 9:30-11am to learn how to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome at Building 2652 on Dixie Road.
April 17, we will distribute child fingerprinting kits at each child development center.
April 18, FAP presents the Philip & Henry Magical Self-Esteem & Safety shows at 9:30am and 3:30pm at the School Age Center.
April 19, we’re distributing free kites at the FAP office 8-4:30pm.
April 25, FAP presents A Calmer, Happier Life Starts Today parenting workshop at the Benning Club’s Supper Club, 12:30-1:30pm. Register to receive a free lunch and goodies at screamfree.com/benning/.
