- February 2024:
- February 3, 4, 10, 11 (weekend class - Sat and Sun); last day to register: January 24, 2024
- March 2024:
- March 9, 10, 16, 17 (weekend class - Sat and Sun); last day to register: March 1, 2024
- April 2024:
- April 1-5 (SPRING BREAK for surrounding GA Counties); last day to register: March 25, 2024
- April 13, 14, 20, 21 (weekend class - Sat and Sun); last day to register: April 5, 2024
- Must complete the pre-requisite prior to registering for a Lifeguarding Course.
- Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
- Event consists of:
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.
- Surface dive, feet-first, or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
- Return to the surface and swim 20 yards to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they can get a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance under water.
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
Fee: $175 for all patrons (must be 15 years and older)
DATES:
All classes start at 9 a.m. and are scheduled to finish at 5 p.m.; participants will meet at the Breezeway. Every participant also needs to complete all four days and pass a written and skills test with at least 80% to become certified. Minimum participation to hold the class: 6 participants in the class, 15 years of age or older. There are pre-requisites that need to be passed to participate in the lifeguard class.
