Message from Gary Sinise:

When this band got started in 2003, I could never have predicted that over the next 21 years we would perform over 560 shows for hundreds of thousands of great people all over the world. Our performances for our defenders and their families have meant so much to me. It's the reason I began playing again in the first place. I played music as a kid, but in my early 20's I stopped to focus on acting and building Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. With many veterans in our family, supporting the men and women who sacrifice in defense of our country is a big reason I began volunteering my time to visit our troops and perform with the band. Our concerts on military bases, at military hospitals, and raising awareness in support of first responders and families of our fallen heroes is the core mission and purpose that I continue to play. And each time we do a concert that is open to the public, I am amazed at the outpouring of love and kindness.

The LT Dan Band is a program of the Gary Sinise Foundation, and your donations help us to provide so support to those we serve, including bringing these much-needed morale-boosting events to our military hospitals throughout the year and ensure we can provide entertainment to military bases across the US, and the world. Due to the pandemic, from 2020-2022 we were forced to slow down, but 2023 brought us back to regular support and we are full speed ahead in 2024.

Keep an eye open here on the band website for shows that are open to the public and please come see us if we are in your area.

Personally, I have made it my mission to do what I can to draw attention to our military and first-responder communities, and to make sure they know they are remembered and appreciated. Whether through performing with the band, supporting a military charity or visiting the war zones and hospitals to shake hands and take pictures, all of it helps our heroes know that there are people out there who are aware of, and appreciate, their sacrifices, and who understand the importance of keeping our military and first responder families strong in difficult times. It is important to remember that these defenders are volunteers. Service is something that we all have a choice to do, or not to do, and I am grateful that there are Americans who have made the choice to serve in defense of our country and protecting our cities, especially in such dangerous and uncertain times. What would we do if no one wanted to protect and defend us? I'd like to say thank you to our defenders and their families and I suggest that if you see someone in uniform, military personnel, a police officer, a fire fighter, an EMT, just know that taking the time to thank them yourselves will mean a lot. They don't ask for much at all. They are just doing what they signed up to do, but that little gesture of gratitude from a stranger will make their day.

Thanks to all of you who have supported Gary Sinise Foundation and our LT Dan Band program. And if you have not been to the foundation website, I encourage you to check us out at www.garysinisefoundation.org to see what the GS Foundation is all about. There, you can also check out our You Tube Channel to see our programs in action, and our merchandise page for some great items, including a copy of my book, Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service.

I want to let you know that although we read all the guestbook comments, due to the great number of entries we receive, we cannot respond individually. Please know that I am personally grateful, and that your comments mean a lot. It gives us a sense that people are aware of what we have been up to, and knowing that, is always a great incentive to keep going.

And again, I'm so thankful to all of you who support the band through the Gary Sinise Foundation. Your help will ensure that we can continue to bring much-needed morale-boosting entertainment to our brave active duty service members, the families of our fallen, our veterans, our wounded, our first responders, their families and those in need.

Hope to see you at one of our shows later this year.

All the best,

Gary
