Family Sportsmen’s Day

Join Outdoor Recreation for one of the most popular events on Fort Benning, Family Sportsmen’s Day, sponsored by Headquarter Nissan, at the Recreational Shooting Complex on August 16!  This free event is open to all military family members of all skill levels, ages 6 and up.  This popular event allows military families to try a variety of outdoor sports like archery, marksmanship on the pistol and rifle ranges, paintball and so much more!

The event starts with demonstrations by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU); the elite, most lethal active-duty unit with the best marksmanship skills in the Army. MWR’s Equipment Resource Center will showcase some of their great equipment, a variety of vendors will be participating for families to get to know everything they need about the Outdoors!  Visit all areas at the RSC and get your punch card stamped at each location to win some great prizes!

Schedule of events: 

9 – 10 a.m.: Check in time! Make sure to arrive on time!

• Before you enter the Recreational Shooting Complex and attend the event, participants must sign a Hold Harmless Agreement and will receive their Family Sportsmen’s Day punch card and RSC map as well as a goodie bag filled with items you need on the range!

10 – 10:15 a.m.: Safety Brief 

10:15 – 10:30 a.m.: Demonstrations by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU); the elite, most lethal active-duty unit with the best marksmanship skills in the Army! Make sure to be on time – you really don’t want to miss it!

Starting 10:30 a.m.: Explore the RSC!

• Visit each station/area, vendor; shoot at one of the ranges with instructions from an experienced professional; check out the Archery Range, play a round of paint ball, check out ERC equipment, visit the Pro Shop – make sure your punch card is completed to win a door prize!

11 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Food available for purchase!

2 p.m.: Event concludes!

Parental supervision is required; participants (ages 6 and up) will be able to shoot for free on one of the ranges - all safety gear will be provided and must be worn. This event is open to ID Card holders only!  In support of Family Sportsmen’s Day; the Recreational Shooting Complex will be closed for regular business on August 16.
