Connecting the Dots: Animal Abuse

#
Note: This event has already passed.

Dr. Phil Arkow will provide a virtual training (coming soon) on how animal abuse is often an indicator concurrent with domestic violence and a predictor of future domestic violence.  It is a critical weapon used by abusers to keep vulnerable family members from leaving or forcing them to return home to the abuser.  In his presentation, Dr. Arkow will share how animal abuse is used as a coercive control mechanism that holds families hostage.

This presentation will focus on the impact of pet abuse for all military as well civilian families and present strategies that agencies and families can undertake to reduce the cycle of violence and keep all family members safe.

FAP will distribute Pet Awareness Safety Bags after the presentation from 3 - 4:00 p.m. This will be a no contact distribution from the front porch of the Family Advocacy Program Building, 7131 Richardson Circle, Building 36, Lewis Hall. Get your bag while supplies last (30-40 bags).
